The Library

The Library of Beijing Technology and Business University (BTBU) was formed by the former library of Beijing Business School and the former Library of Beijing Institute of Light Industry in June 1999. In April 2019, the Archives (University History Museum) was merged into the Library. It includes Liangxiang Campus Library and Fucheng Road Campus Library, with a total area of 25,793.1 square meters and 2,151 reading seats. The wireless network covers all areas of the library.


Serve all teachers and students. The library tries its best to meet the diversified and personalized needs of readers, and scientifically adjusts the proportion of the structure of literature resources to meet the needs of readers at different levels. By the end of 2021, it has collected 1.9 million volumes of paper literature, 203 kinds of Chinese paper periodicals, 1.31 million volumes of electronic books, and 98 databases of various types. It has signed document delivery agreements with Peking University Library and Tsinghua University Library successively, and joined the BALIS interlibrary cooperation network and the interlibrary loan system of the consortium of university libraries in Beijing, forming a multi-disciplinary system focusing on economics, management and engineering, and taking into account science, law, literature and history. The document resources guarantee system is constructed by printing, electronic, network and multimedia resources.


Adhere to the "people-oriented" service concept. The weekly opening time is 112 hours. The "Golden Disk" library management information system provides the whole university's readers with a one-stop service of collecting, checking, borrowing, reading and searching. Readers can enjoy a variety of information resource services such as book reservation, renewal, collection information inquiry, interlibrary loan, document delivery, database retrieval and reading through the university LAN. At the same time, the library also provides subject librarian, information analysis, check and reference and other information push services. We hold literature retrieval courses, online training, scheduled lectures, face-to-face on-site lectures, and new students' library education all year round to guide and help readers make full use of library resources. We attach great importance to cultural construction, and hold reading promotion activities every year through reading festival, graduation season, freshman season, postgraduate examination season, etc., to build a scholarly campus. We build education platform, set up student practice center, small picture studio and other student teams to participate in reader service work, cultivate students' all-round development.


Continue to strengthen IT application. The self-service borrowing and returning machine, self-service printing machine, and seat management system have been put into use successively, which provide convenience for readers to fully use the library.


The Archive

The Archive of BTBU was formally established on November 11, 2008 on the basis of the former archives of Beijing Institute of Light Industry, Beijing Business School and Beijing Institute of Mechanical Industry Management after the merger of the three schools. The archive covers an area of 431 square meters, including 354 square meters of warehouse. Its main work includes comprehensive management and utilization of archives, archives informatization, compilation and research of yearbooks and archives, construction and management of the University History Museum, etc.


The archive collection began in 1949. As of the end of 2021, the collection of four fonds (Beijing Technology and Business University the original Beijing Institute of Light Industry, the original Beijing Business School, the original Machinery Industry Management Cadre Institute) file a total of more than 37,000 volumes, the books were bent length 541 meters, mainly divided into the masses, administration, teaching, scientific research, infrastructure, foreign affairs, finance, equipment, material, publishing, and audio-visual of 11 major categories. The archives of each period show the development course of the university, reflecting the real history of the university's establishment, change and development.


The archives of all units have provided more than 1,000 lending services for teachers and students, from all walks of life and alumni of Beijing Technology and Business University, promoted the digitization of paper archives, compiled the "Beijing Technology and Business University Yearbook" every year, improved the yearbook network, and also edits printed memorabilia from the university,"Journal of Beijing Technology and Business University" and "Memory of Beijing Technology and Business School" etc.


The History Museum

The History Museum of BTBU was built in June 2010 and moved to the first floor of Liangxiang Library in July 2020. The New History Museum covers an area of 780 square meters. It is divided into three parts: the Historical Hall, Today Hall and Prospect Hall, using digital imaging and multi-dimensional display, integrating the school motto, school emblem and alma mater elements, and introducing intelligent machine explanation, self-service photography, touchable timeline splicing screen, electronic signature system message window and other designs. The History Museum aims to inherit the spirit of industry and commerce and carry forward the history and culture of the university. Since its establishment, The History Museum has received more than 30,000 visitors from home and abroad, inside and outside the university, such as Chen Yuan, vice chairman of the 12th CPPCC National Committee.


On April 26, 2019, according to the notice of the adjustment of the institutional setting of the university, The Archives (History Museum) was merged into the library, starting a new journey for the development of The Library (Archives).


The Library (Archives) is a university unit with Office, Collection Development Center, Reference Service Center, Technical Support Center, Reader Service Center and Archives (University History Museum). Relying on rich literature and information resources, a good digital platform and a high-quality team of librarians, our library works with unity, cooperation and pioneering spirit to provide a strong literature and information guarantee for promoting the construction of the university's "double first-class" and high-level research-oriented university.
